Editor – Mike Hyman

The Editor of MASCOT – the SMC Magazine is Mike Hyman, who has been a member of the Club since 1994.
After several years in the motor trade, Mike joined the MOD, working mainly on Light Armoured vehicles, including investigating defects, producing modifications and writing Technical Manuals. He then joined the team engaged in the design and development of aluminium armoured vehicles, and eventually became Project Manager for the procurement of all Light Armoured Vehicles for the British Army.
Mike retired in 1994, his first procurement having been a very dilapidated 1932 Singer Junior Nine Sports two-seater, which he fully restored over the next four years as his retirement ‘project’.
He then bought a 1930 Junior saloon, which he finished restoring in 2008, a 1954 SM 1500, which he has also restored, a 1931 Junior saloon which he used for 10 years before selling it to an enthusiast in Norway, a 1965 Vogue Automatic, which he repaired, resprayed and used for 5 years, before selling it to make room for a 1956 Hunter which he now uses as his ‘every-day’ car.
Mike is also the SMC Singer Junior Registrar.
