The basis of the digital archive is the extensive paper archive built up over many years by the late Bill Haverly, former Roadster registrar and guru and a founding member of the club. Bill’s archive was methodically scanned in 2019 prior to its handover to the Rootes Archive Centre Trust near Banbury for permanent safe-keeping. In the meantime, with the help of other club members further scanned items are being added on a regular basis. The archive contains a wide variety of jpg images and Word documents covering Singer related brochures and other advertising material, handbooks/manuals, Parts lists, technical articles, specs and diagrams, rare historic photographs (including competition, promotional, factory related etc), magazine articles (both historic and more recent) and many other items. Members may request digital copies of items only (which they can then print themselves if they wish) to be sent via email or ‘We transfer’ (within reason) via the ‘Contact Us’ menu option for a small donation. Where the requested jpg images are too large for practicable electronic transfer (for example, a manual may contain up to 50 jpg page images) then the requestor will be advised at the time of request of the cost of a memory stick or CD plus postage and how it can be paid. The sample list mentioned below is by no means a complete picture of the archive contents – if you have specific archive requests for historic items, photos, technical articles on specific models or even individual cars, please use ‘Contact Us’ menu option to enquire and, if it is in the digital archive we will let you know by email. Please note we do not hold original paper copies of any item within the archive and if you require, for example, an original paper manual etc then it is worth contacting the appropriate Parts Registrar in case there is one in the parts stock.
